Tabletip Games is a portuguese table games publisher that started in 2012 with a handful of ideas and a project to develop them. We believe in games that gather different generations around a table driving unlikely conversations and it’s our believe that tabletop games can be a medium to address contemporary issues and fostering attentive reflection about what surrounds us. Our games, more than just games, are a new form of clever and fun conviviality!

Concept Thinking & Sales

Like every other child, Carlos played cops and thieves and similar games in his infancy. He started to gain interest in war games by playing with little toy soldiers, was from the Spectrum generation, but also liked to read magazines such as: Jeux&Stratégie; Casus Belli; Strategy&Tactics. These magazines made him passionate about historical and strategic games. However, as the years passed by he began to regress towards Eurogames… Likes to create fun games that makes us think!

Grew up with computer games. Never had a Spectrum but spent many hours in an amstrad with DOS 1.0! His favorite games were strategy games like Civilizations and naturally developed an acquired taste for board games. Started with Settlers of Catan and nowadays, his collection keeps growing and growing. Likes simple games but with depth thinking.

Started playing in his mom’s womb, will continue on his grave. Interested by all types of games, be it computer or console, tabletop or real life sports. Used to play in a chess club and was once a Magic the Gathering addicted,  winning some local tournaments.  Always valued the social part of gaming and prefers to play against, or with his friends. Besides being a Tabletipian, he is a PhD candidate and researcher  in the areas of human-robot interaction, artificial intelligence and game design. The topic of his PhD dissertation is how to create socially present opponents for tabletop games.

Concept Design & Communication

He plays the simplification league. Says that to solve first we need to scramble, and takes that guideline seriously as a graphic designer. The first computer games were shared by his friends to run on an portable amstrad (PPC-640).  Later on, he played on his work breaks by using his macs to play his favorites Lunatic Fringe and the Myst enigmas. With the web boom his most relevant game now is to step up in the design for online interfaces.
